Senior year is a time to celebrate. It's a time to commemorate your accomplishments and memories with your closest friends and family. One of the most important ways to capture these memories is with a senior photo session. Capturing your senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and you want to make sure your photos are perfect and fine-art quality! At Noreen Owens Photography, we'll give you tips on choosing your outfits, poses and setting up for your photo session. We'll also help you plan out the logistics so that everything goes smoothly on photo day.
How to Prepare for Your Senior Photo Session
The first step in planning your senior photo session is to choose a location. Your photo shoot can be at our studio or another place that has meaning to you - your school, a local park, or even your backyard. Think about the "vibe" you're going for - do you want urban or natural surroundings? Our team will help guide you through this process. Once you've decided on a location, it's time to start planning your outfits.
What to Wear
Once you've chosen your location, it's time to start thinking about what outfits you'll wear. We recommend bringing 2-3 outfit options to your session to have a variety of looks to choose from. When selecting your outfits, think about what colors and styles will compliment your location and make you feel confident. You want your photos to reflect your personality, so don't be afraid to experiment!
How to Pose
One of the essential senior portrait tips is to relax and be yourself! Noreen Owens is a warm, kind, and professional award-winning photographer who will guide you through various poses to help capture your unique personality. Take a few deep breaths and trust that your photos will turn out beautifully if you're feeling nervous.
How Props Can Reflect You and Support Your Senior Portrait
If you want to add a personal touch to your senior portraits, consider bringing some props that reflect your hobbies and interests. This could be anything from a musical instrument to a favorite book. Just make sure not to bring too many things, as you don't want your photos to look cluttered.
Senior Portrait Tips for Parents and Seniors
If you're a senior, remember to relax and have fun during your photo session. Here are some senior portrait tips that may help you:
- Our team will find the perfect time for you!
- When you schedule, you will receive our "Welcome Guide" which gives you a lot of information on what to wear and what to bring along with what you can expect from our time together.
- Be yourself! Your senior portraits are a chance to show off your personality and no one else's. If you're feeling nervous, take a few deep breaths - you will do great.
And if you're a parent, enjoy this moment in your high school senior's life. This time of your child's life is unique and will only happen once, so cherish it.
After the Photo Session
Now that you've had your senior portraits taken, it's time to choose your favorite photos. If you're looking for senior portrait tips, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Noreen will schedule your "view and order" appointment at the end of your portrait session. That's where you come back to our studio, view your gorgeous portraits and make your ordering decisions.
- Choose photos that you feel confident and beautiful in.
- Photograph 2-3 walls where you would like your portraits to hang. Place an 8.5x11 piece of paper on them and send us the pictures from the floor to the ceiling including your furniture. Our team will guide you through this process.
- You will love these portraits even in 10, 20, and 50 years and they truly become family heirlooms.
- Choose a senior portrait that showcases your unique personality.
- Your view and order appointment is the only time to view your portraits and make your ordering decision. Please make sure all of your decision-makers are present. Noreen will be happy to give you her professional opinion. She'll lead you on the right track to a finished product that will make you happy!
